An epic roadshow
The Department for International Trade is constantly working to build an export movement that drives economic expansion and prosperity across the UK, aiming to create a nation-wide export culture by changing attitudes towards selling overseas.
DIT has deployed promotional vehicles to carry its export message around the country before. In an effort to increase participation and enhance engagement, we were invited to refresh and expand the concept so that more prospective exporters could be supported to start their export journeys. The result is the new, improved ‘Export Hub’ and its nimbly versatile offspring, ‘Pathfinder’.
Export Hub is set up in under two hours and comes with Tardis-like capabilities. Its three hydraulically operated pods more than double the trailer’s usable floor area to 60m². Facilities include a spacious interior that supports complex, inventive displays for 40 pax, a refreshment service and storage area, fully glazed automatic doors leading to balcony seating, and an HD LED outdoor screen. The structure is fully DDA compliant. Digital engagement features including an interactive globe and photo environments that encourage delegates to share their export stories. Export Hub is climate-controlled – it can be set up inside and outside venues, and catering can also be arranged.
Export Hub was trialled at Offshore Europe and Subsea Expo in Aberdeen; it was warmly received and well attended. Bray Leino Events is now working with DIT to develop a full programme of countrywide UK locations.
DIT’s export satellite vehicle – Pathfinder – was developed to operate in tandem with Export Hub; it also supports last-minute, high-profile event requests when the larger vehicle is not available and hard-to-access locations which the bigger vehicle cannot reach. Designed along similar lines to Export Hub, Pathfinder offers 22.5m² interactive space with comfortable facilities for up to 15 delegates.
