Bray Leino Events awarded contract for UK Pavilion at Expo 2020

With twelve months to go before the start of Expo 2020 Dubai – widely promoted as ‘The World’s Greatest Show’ – Bray Leino Events celebrates being awarded  the Event Management Services contract for the UK Pavilion at Expo 2020. The agency is managing the full events calendar, sponsor and partner programmes, venue and logistics, and PR and communications for the UK’s presence at this major global event.

Expo 2020 Dubai is expected to attract millions of visitors and the largest number of international visitors in World Expo history. In light of the current global health crisis, the event, initially due to open in October this year, has been postponed until 1st October 2021. Its focus on bringing nations together to share solutions to some of the planet’s greatest challenges will be more relevant than ever in a post-pandemic world.

Under the theme ‘Innovating for a Shared Future,’ the UK Pavilion is inspired by a project from the late scientist Stephen Hawking in which he pondered how humanity could express itself to other advanced civilisations. It will offer an awe-inspiring glimpse into the future, exploring everything from artificial intelligence to the commercialisation of space.

The Bray Leino Events team is helping to prepare a powerfully stimulating six-month programme of events that will showcase the very best of the UK’s culture, business, education, tourism and technology. The programme features eight ‘Breakthrough Moments’ that invite global audiences to address overarching themes, asking the question; In The Future:

– What will we Wear?                                    – How will we Create?

– How will we Travel?                                     – How will we Learn?

– How will we Live?                                        – How will we Thrive?

– What will we Eat?                                        – How will we Advance?

Each Breakthrough Moment will provide opportunities to showcase and engage with new innovations, participate in thought-provoking sessions, find new business partners and meet with visitors from around the world. Programme elements will include summit sessions, ‘Extraordinary Insight’ talks, podcasts, student workshops and networking opportunities.  Visitors to the UK Pavilion will also be able to engage in interactive and immersive experiences. The Bray Leino Events team is helping to source speakers and content to support and promote the Breakthrough Moments including academics, influencers, celebrities and heroes that represent the principal sectors and industries.

As at Expo 2015 Milan, the agency will manage delivery of the UK’s National Day celebrations – the high point of the UK’s event calendar at Expo 2020 Dubai. Bray Leino Events’ creative and production teams are working closely with the Department for International Trade’s UK at Expo 2020 Dubai project team to create a high-intensity programme for this special day at the UK Pavilion, across the Expo site and beyond.

The UK’s National Day is scheduled for 10 February 2022; the planned activations will promote the UK as a global hub of innovation and a world-class destination for trade, investment, education and tourism. The itinerary will feature the official flag-raising ceremony, cultural performances, participation in Expo’s official parade and presentations of the UK’s unique creativity across the entire Expo 2020 Dubai site.
