UK Pavilion virtual tour

Expo 2020 Dubai – often promoted as ‘The World’s Greatest Show’ – is expected to attract more millions of visitors and the largest number of international visitors in World Expo history. It was originally due to open in October this year but has been postponed due to the ongoing global pandemic until 1st October 2021. Its focus on bringing nations together to share solutions to some of the planet’s greatest challenges will be more relevant than ever in a post-pandemic world.

Bray Leino Events has been awarded the Event Management Services contract for the UK Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai. Under the theme ‘Innovating for a Shared Future,’ the UK Pavilion is inspired by a project from the late scientist Stephen Hawking in which he pondered how humanity could express itself to other advanced civilisations. It will offer an awe-inspiring glimpse into the future, exploring everything from artificial intelligence to the commercialisation of space. The agency is managing the full event calendar, sponsor and partner programmes, venue and logistics, and PR and communications for the UK Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.

As part of the Event Management Services contract and the ‘One year to go’ campaign, Bray Leino Events in-house creative and digital teams jointly designed, developed and hosted a web-based, fully immersive, virtual tour of the UK Pavilion concept.

Working from architectural drawings and designer sketches, and incorporating a specially curated soundscape (by British sound designers Polyphonia), the agency worked with senior representatives from the Department for International Trade UK at Expo 2020 Dubai Project Team to produce the virtual tour. It is a wholly realistic experience, combining both 3D 360º views of all the key areas with interactive hotspots where visitors can explore specific zones and access relevant information.

The UK Pavilion virtual tour is the first of its kind so far created for Expo 2020 Dubai. It is an important step towards supporting some of the project’s strategic objectives, including utilising the UK’s participation in Expo 2020 Dubai in order to promote UK culture and soft power and present the UK as a great place to visit, study and do business.

More information on the UK at Expo 2020 Dubai experience, both virtual and physical, will be shared over the coming year as the countdown to the opening in October 2021 unwinds.
