Backstage at Bray Leino Events with Ellie Hogg, Senior Event Manager

Ellie Hogg (pictured left) is one of our newest Senior Event Managers. A consummate event professional, she’s been with us since December 2017 – working her way through Event Executive and Event Manager roles with energy, dedication, and style.

So who better to give us a quick backstage view on what it’s like working for Bray Leino Events?

People who like working in live events tend to like people, she says, and they thrive on variety. “It could be a grand banquet hall, the beachfront in Cannes, a massive exhibition centre, or a rooftop bar in Cape Town. Every day is different and you’re always learning and expanding your skills,” says Ellie.

In live events, there are no second chances. You only get one chance to get it right. Ellie says the pressure can be real sometimes, but that’s what builds great teams.

“When it comes on, you’re surrounded by a team all pulling together and managing that pressure together,” she says. “That’s how I’ve made lifelong friends here – they’ve seen me at my worst, and they still want to hang out with me!”

Ellie has played a pivotal role in some of our largest recent projects, like the Malaria No More Summit, Expo 2020 Dubai, COP25 in Madrid, CES Las Vegas, and the Global Investment Summit. And she says wrapping up on a massive project is a feeling like nothing else.

“It’s overwhelming really, I’ve seen some colleagues cry at the end of an event (happy tears),” she says. “Everyone is so proud of each other and it’s a massive bonding experience.”

But aside from professional triumph and success, her best moments at Bray Leino Events are around the great team culture.

“All the team socials are up there for me,” she says. “Christmas, Summer, Halloween and everything in between. One favourite was the Bray Leino Events Summer Awards Party, where we hosted an awards ceremony for our team, prizes for ‘Class clown’, ‘Biggest hype person’, ‘Funniest onsite story’ – we all reminisced and celebrated our achievements from the year and had some well-deserved bubbles!

“We definitely have the mentality of work hard play hard.”

And Ellie’s advice to anyone thinking of joining Bray Leino Events? “Just say yes! There is so much opportunity and things to learn and get your teeth stuck into. The team are so easy to get along with, make sure you come to ‘pub club’ one evening!”
